how to find us

:: LIKE TO VISIT?

While we of course welcome visitors, we are conscious of impacting on the children's schedules and privacy as little as possible. Green Gecko is not only a school, it is a home and it is important the children don't feel like they are being put on 'show'. For this reason, we have provided the following info and guidelines that we hope will maximize the benefits of your visit for both you and the green gecko kids.

:: VISITING FAQ's

Visiting hours? 9:30am - 10:30am Monday to Friday only.

What can we bring? Anything from our wish list would be greatly appreciated. The things we need the most are not always the most fun or glamorous like shampoo and washing powder! Much of it can be bought here in Siem Reap though which not only saves on excess luggage, it helps the local Cambodian economy.

Can we bring individual gifts for the children? Because of the children's begging past, we strongly discourage any individual gift giving from westerner and suggest that any gifts are to be donated on a group basis and given to the centre management.

What time can we interact with the children? The kids' days are jammed packed from 6am to 7:30pm so any interaction with visitors is kept to a minimum and can only happen briefly while they are on a break. Our visiting hours are designed to show people around, share with them what Green Gecko is about, what we do and why we do it. Visiting hours are not for playing or interacting with the children.

Can we come in a group? Yes of course, group visits are also welcome within the visiting hours of 9:30am - 10:30am Monday to Friday.

Do we need to make an appointment? No. just turn up during visiting hours and there will be someone to show you around.

IMPORTANT: Due to our strict child protection policy all visitors are required to sign into our visitor book and bring along their passport for ID. Thanks for your understanding.

(however this address will not get you very far, as there are not many street signs in Siem Reap, and even fewer house numbers so we have made this little map for you to show to your driver.

Please note that while all emails are appreciated and eventually read, they almost certainly won't be as promptly replied to as one would expect in the western world. The fastest broadband here in Cambodia is slower than any dial up you have experienced at home and that, coupled with the trials and tribulations of caring for 60 street kids, emails come off second best. For non urgent emails, this might mean anything up to a couple of weeks, even months!  So please don't think we are ignoring you... we will get there. If you ever come over to visit, you will see why. If you do have an urgent message for us (eg: you are only in Siem Reap for the next 48 hours!), please mark it urgent or give us a call/ text message on +855 92 270 038 to let us know your require our immediate attention. Thanks for your understanding.

While we do have a post box address, we gently discourage valuable things being sent through the mail. The most reliable (and cheapest) method to send things over is with a trusty traveller. This way you will know it will land in the right hands.
